What you are going to learn:
If you notice that Monitoring Sessions to the Internet are showing very high packet loss (close to 80% or higher), the problem usually comes from the corporate firewall. In most cases, the traffic sent by the Obkio Agents is being blocked or limited before it can reach the Internet.
- The firewall is blocking the UDP traffic used by the Agents.
- Outbound traffic towards the Internet is not allowed on the required ports.
- A proxy or other security device is filtering the traffic and dropping packets.
To fix this and prevent false results:
- Allow outbound UDP traffic from the Obkio Agents.
- Make sure UDP 23999 port is open.
- Check that the corporate firewall allows direct access to Obkio Public Monitoring Agents.
- If your company uses a centralized firewall, apply the rule globally so that all sites are covered.
