  • How to add the widget to your dashboards

Overview
Overview

The Network Destinations widget displays continuous ICMP traceroute data from one Monitoring Agent to a specified IP address or hostname. It shows the complete network path with hop-by-hop performance metrics, allowing you to monitor endpoints where destination agents cannot be deployed.

How It Works
How It Works

The widget uses continuous ICMP traceroute data from the selected source agent to the configured destination IP or hostname. Traceroutes run for about a second, with results aggregated in real-time.

The widget displays hop-by-hop metrics along the network path. The amount of information displayed depends on the widget size on your dashboard:

  • Small widget: Shows essential metrics (hop number, IP address, latency, packet loss)
  • Large widget: Shows complete metrics including:
    • Hop number
    • IP address / Hostname (reverse DNS when available)
    • Quality Score (%)
    • Packet Loss (%) and Packet Count
    • Latency (ms) - Minimum, Average and Maximum
    • Jitter (ms) - Minimum, Average and Maximum

The widget automatically updates as routes change or network conditions vary.

Reading the Graph
Reading the Graph

  • Timeline (top):

    • Shows overall network path quality over time.
    • Green indicates good quality
    • Yellow indicates medium quality
    • Red indicates poor quality
    • Purple markers denote path changes (route changed at that time)

Click any point on the timeline to update the hop details below. Zooming in on the timeline is also possible, like any other widget in the dashboard

  • Traceroute Table (bottom): Displays hop-by-hop metrics along the network path.

    • Each row = one hop in the path
    • Columns show hop number, IP/hostname, max packet loss (%), max latency (ms)
    • The final row summarizes the total packet loss and latency across the entire path

Hover over a hop to see the tooltip with detailed metrics. You can click on a hop to make the tooltip persistent and click the "X" icon on the top right to close it.
